What do you love most about your job?
I enjoy what I sell – it is a lot of fun. It is something that I have been doing since high school – printing t-shirts, photography, and so forth. I think the people I work with are fantastic. DavCo people are kind, gracious, easy to work with through difficult situations, and eager to do a great job on any and every project.
Tell us about a work-related success story that you’re proud of.
With God’s help, I have been able to keep a strong pace and continue to grow my sales numbers every year. I have also come to realize that I have the privilege from time to time to reproduce God’s word – whether it is in a brochure or on a t-shirt. To be able to do that every day not only elevates my profession, but gives me purpose and something bigger than myself to work on every day.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my wife – she is my best friend! I enjoy taking walks and looking at plants and birds. I enjoy playing and watching basketball. I like food and enjoy a good meal with my wife – eating something unique or something we may have never eaten before.
Describe an interesting hobby or pastime that you have.
Skateboarding (though I don’t do it much anymore.) Birdwatching. Shooting hoops.
What’s something surprising that not many people know about you?
I was in a photo shoot and story in Thrasher Magazine (way back in the day!), and I have a first cousin who is a hall of fame football player – Randy White of the Dallas Cowboys.
Do you follow any sports teams?
Phillies. Duke college hoops. Lampeter-Strasburg high school boys’ basketball. And yes, the Dallas Cowboys!
What are some of your favorite local spots to visit?
Shot & Bottle in Lancaster. Mission Church. Longwood Gardens. The Mill Creek walking trail. Anywhere with my wife!
What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?
Spanish. Read music and play bass guitar. Fly a helicopter.
Tell us about a personal success story that you’re proud of.
In my college days, four of my friends and I wrote original music and made three records. Yes, literal vinyl records. It was loud, scary, hardcore music. It was rewarding at the time to write our own songs, record them in studio, and perform them at various spots in PA and other states. Since then, Jesus has changed my life, but it is still rewarding to look back on the experience.
How has your role evolved since you joined DavCo?
When I was first hired, I did a whole lot of prospecting for new accounts. Over the years, as I have been able to establish the accounts, I have done less prospecting and spend more time servicing accounts I have.
What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on and why?
The best trip I ever took was my first mission trip to Costa Rica in 2018 – which happened to be my first time ever traveling outside the country. I served with a group of great individuals and had the privilege of doing work on the grounds of a mission center there. Costa Rica was beautiful. A VERY close second was when my wife and I were blessed with the opportunity to vacation in Antigua, which is also beautiful.
What’s your favorite memory from working at DavCo?
The recent Las Vegas business trip was a blast…ahem…I mean…was a great learning and team-building experience. No, seriously, the team that went is a fun bunch and I learn so much when I am around them.
What would you like to learn or improve in the future?
I’d like to continue to learn more about the promo products industry and all that is out there. It is vast. I’d like to improve my sales skills and become an expert and consultant in my field so that people come to me as an expert – not because I have something to sell.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
The redeeming, sacrificial love of Jesus. Without it, I don’t live.
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
Israel. Germany. England. Ireland. National parks in the western part of our country. (It’s a long list my wife and I must get to!)
What does your typical day at DavCo look like?
Lots of emails. Phone calls. Pestering my administrative assistant, Ruth. Hopefully having a laugh with a coworker. Walking the shop floor hearing the buzz of printing taking place (love it). Working with some of the best people I’ve ever worked with, and because of that, my work day looks bright and fun and like something I want to do.
Tell us about your family / kids / pets.
My best friend and wife is Tracy. She is the best. She’s a teacher. I have three sons, Elijah, Judah, and Micah. They are 22, 19 and 16. They are my favorite guys. I have two dogs – Sam the Shih Tzu and Davey the Dachshund. They’re both knuckleheads and will bark at you when you visit my house.
Anything else you’d like to add?
